Move over Grumpy Cat! Rescue kitty Angry Pearl becomes an Instagram star after thousands fall in love with her constantly scowling expression

A rescue cat has become an internet star after her permanently angry expression has gained her thousands of fans on Instagram.
When Will Highsmith of Jacksonville, Florida, and his girlfriend began browsing online for a new pet, they had no idea they were about to discover a star.
But that's just what they did when they came across a photo of Pearl, a white and orange cat with a permanently furrowed brow that makes her look constantly angry. They fell in love with her immediately.

Love at first glare: Will and his girlfriend found six-year-old Pearl on the Animal Care and Protective Services website and immediately fell in love with her unique look
The very next day the couple rushed to Animal Care and Protective Services, whose website they had spotted Pearl on, in hopes she would still be available for adoption.
'We thought she was cute and figured she’d be gone pretty fast but we got there and turned the corner and there she was,' Will told ABC News, adding: 'We noticed her immediately because of her face.'
When they found her in the shelter, she looked up at them through the bars with her unique little face and Will couldn't help but snap a photo.

'While we were at the shelter she was looking at me through the bars,' he said. 'I took a picture and thought it was hilarious and posted it on Reddit under [the] cats [subreddit].
'She looked angry and we figured a warm loving home would help,' he wrote on his Reddit post. 'She is still the harbinger of death.'
'It blew up on Imgur really fast and people were telling me to make an Instagram for this cat. People kept suggesting I do it so I made a few funny ones with funny, little lines all about hate.'
The Instagram page is called AngryPearl, after the nickname her displeased expression has earned her, and features simple images of Pearl with phrases like 'I need to speak to a manager' and 'I hate you a lot'.

According to the memes, Pearl hates Mondays and likes ordering around her 'dirty ugly useless' humans.
She has also has earned countless comparisons to the similarly disgruntled-looking Grumpy Cat, who shot to fame in 2013 and now has more than 1.2 million Instagram followers.
However, Pearl's owners claim that despite her 'pissed off' expression, the little feline isn't even slightly as fierce as her face may suggest.
'She loves to be rubbed, even on her belly,' Will told Buzzfeed. 'She purrs loudly and has to be near one of us humans at all times.'
The memes - and Pearl's strangely cute less-than-impressed countenance - have attracted over 11,000 followers on the social media site in just one week.
