A Lancashire man has been arrested after mistaking a car wash for a McDonald's drive thru.

Police in Ribble Valley said the 26-year-old man made the botched take-away order, then drove into a car wash next door before colliding with and damaging a fence outside the restaurant.

He was arrested close to the McDonald's just off the A59 in the early hours of this morning, reports Lancashire Telegraph.

In a Facebook post, Ribble Valley police, said: "Well another drink driver fails to get past Clitheroe police after thinking that he can attend McDonald's and order some take away food.

The police said on Facebook: "Remember guys don't drink and drive it's not worth it." (

"Unfortunately for the driver he thought the car wash next door was the drive thru and he ended being taken away to custody.

"Remember guys don't drink and drive it's not worth it."

At 9am the suspect remained in custody after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
