A 32-year-old maniac stripped naked on a busy motorway, climbed on top of vehicles and started stabbing them with a cutting tool in a bizarre road rage incident.

Footage even shows the naked man jumping on top a moving flatbed truck and repeatedly stabbing the roof of the cab.

Shocked drivers could not believe what they were seeing when they filmed the strange turn of events on Route 28 in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The scenario started as a three-vehicle accident which then led to a fight between two men - one of them being Jose Gonzalez Flores who soon stripped naked.

Police say moments after ramming his pickup truck into two vehicles the 32-year-old began punching one of the other drivers.

Witness Nina Johns said: "I see a man walking between cars, and I'm thinking there's been an accident and he needs help.

"He walks past my car, punches my door with the side of his hand, and he's got something else in his other hand."

Gonzalez was carrying a sharp cutting tool.

But instead of getting back into his car, he strips off and walks into the traffic.

Nina said: "He climbs over the barrier and gets undressed and comes back into traffic, buck naked.

"It was very frightening for everyone involved."

The footage shows Gonzalez first running amongst the traffic without his top on.

He then climbs up to the cab of a lorry and starts violently punching the windows.

Next he strips completely naked in the middle of the road and jumps onto a moving flatbed.

Straddling the cab he repeatedly stabs the roof of the vehicle with the cutting tool as it starts swerving trying to get him off.

Police sent out a dogs and a chopper to look for Gonzalez who had landed in a drainage ditch in some nearby woods.

But they do not know what prompted his unusual actions.

Officer Kent Bailey, from Fairfax County Police Department, said: "We're not sure if he was having a medical emergency after the accident, or if possibly he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol."
