Boris Johnson went out for a jog this morning and stunned the world with his outfit.
The fashion forward Foreign Secretary rocked a blue 2012 Olympics branded polo shirt, paired with a beige wooly fleece, because, let's face it, it's cold.
He kept himself entertained with a pair of UrbanEars over-the-head headphones.
But perhaps not wanting to draw attention to his ostentatious earphones, he covered them up with a black and red striped hat.
And then there were the shorts.
Oh, the shorts.
To describe them as inappropriate for an early morning run in February is a bit like describing a pushbike as an inappropriate mode of transport for a transatlantic voyage.
He showed off his ample thighs, only partly obscured by a pair of red Hawaiian shorts, emblazoned with a white floral pattern.
The outfit was rounded off by a disappointingly sensible pair of Asics running shoes, and not, as one might expect from the rest of his outfit, a pair of lime green wooden clogs.
Johnson was photographed returning from his run to his taxpayer-funded 'grace and favour' flat near Buckingham Palace after a quick run around St James' Park.
Here's what Boris Johnson should have worn for his morning jog, according to Mirror Fashion's Danielle Stacey...
1. Asics Gel-Cumulus 18 trainers, £115
With maximum support gel cushioning, Boris will feel light as a bird trying to set a new PB. And they're in Tory blue, obvs.
2. Adidas Ultra Energy Running Shorts, £44.95, John Lewis
Boris, Hawaiian shorts are not appropriate for a) jogging and b) the current London climate. Get yourself a non-offensive longline pair in a more slimming colour.
3. Under Armour Balaclava Hoody, £42, Sports Direct
Keep out the chill (and the sweat) with a reflective hoody - perfect if he decides to jump on one of his 'Boris bikes' after his run. Never let that red beanie hat or beige wooly fleece see the light of day again.
