A vigilant home owner fears she may have been the victim of a 'haunting' after her motion-activated security camera caught footage of a 'ghost' knocking at her door.

Meni Pitoscia, 46, was waiting for a parcel to be delivered to her home when footage was recording appearing to show a faint 'apparition' emerge from a bench on the left of the screen.

The figure then crosses in front of the camera, almost appearing to look directly at it.

It then passes out of view moving to the right before the camera sensors stopped recording.

Mrs Pitoscia of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada said: “My dog started barking and ran towards the door. I was awaiting a package so I figured it was the courier approaching[...]"

Looking outside the large window opposite her front door she could not see anyone standing at the door or near her porch.

Baffled, she dismissed her reservations thinking her dog might have heard a noise outside.

“Then, as I was turning around and going back to my kitchen, I received a notification on my phone – ‘door bell alarm activation’. So I looked at the video and I said ‘what the heck is this?’”

The visit was made even more chilling by the significance of the bench (seen on the left of the video) which was given to her by a former neighbour, Mario, shortly before his death.

She recalled: “One psychic said to me, ‘does that bench hold any significance?’
“I said ‘why?’ And they said ‘well, the spirit looks like it was sitting on the bench’."

“The bench was given to me by somebody that was very close to me and passed away, and the anniversary of his death is coming up this week.

“He was my neighbour, I’d known him my whole life and had grown up across the street from him, and when my father passed away he would always help us."

"The last conversation I had with him was sitting on that bench.”

Others have suggested that the presence is best explained by an insect, an animal or a plastic bag, but Mrs Pitoscia is unsure.

“Some people thought it was a cat or a raccoon or a squirrel,” she said.

“But it couldn’t have been because it’s four feet off the ground, at the level where you would ring the doorbell.”

She added: “A lot of my friends say you should get your house smudged with sage to fend off evil spirits.

She did not believe the 'ghost' was of a vengeful or malevolent nature.
