Morgan 3 Wheeler review: With no doors and no roof this crazy 115mph creation will set you back £40,000

The Morgan 3 Wheeler ditches most modern comforts - so would you dare to chance it on UK roads?

HOW does a car with no doors, no roof, no mod cons, and no airbag sound?

What if you found out that it’s noisy, shakes you around like one of those vibratey biros from the Nineties, and costs a fiver shy of £40k?

Do you dare splash out on a three wheeler?

Do you dare splash out on a three wheeler?

Pick up your jaw and Meet the Morgan Three Wheeler, which is all, and more, of those things.

For your money you get two narrow seats (cake enthusiasts be warned), a 2litre 68bhp S&S V-Twin motor bolted between the front wheels for all to see, and a single driven wheel at the rear.

The engine rumbles, wobbling the car with it, and offers surprising acceleration: 0-62mph in seven seconds.

Weighing less than 600kg means the power is ample, and because you sit low to the ground with no soundproofing or roof 30mph feels like 1,000mph.

No doors or roof but it'll still cost you £40,000

Motorway speeds are hilarious fun, as is leaving every junction sideways because that’s just what it does.

In twisty stuff, you’ll find it doesn’t like to turn in much, but that doesn’t matter because you’re going supersonic in an upturned bathtub with the incorrect number of wheels.

The front is about the same width as a small hatch and the rear tapers to about the width of a pushbike.

This, along with heavy steering, makes parallel parking difficult.

Seeing as it looks like it came from 1934, people will take pictures of your struggle to park – also of you falling out of it.

And when you’re driving it . . . it’s not for shy, retiring types.

It has no reason for existing at all – no protection from the weather, no real boot space, it’s loud, and doesn’t do “car” stuff.

Thing is, it’s brilliant at being just fun unencumbered by modern sensibilities.

It’s easily the worst “car” you’ll ever drive at 30mph.

Also the best.
