Gent in pink hat and tight German Lederhosen shorts thrown out of a Derby shopping centre for having ‘too much on display’

Some felt that because there were young children around at the time he had 'too much on display'

AN elderly man wearing a pink hat and tight German Lederhosen shorts was ordered out of a shopping centre - for showing too much FLESH.

Bosses at the Intu shopping centre in Derby confirmed they removed the eccentrically- dressed shopper following complaints at 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Dad-of-two Paul Mosley, 36, saw the OAP being ejected and managed to take a quick picture of him strolling through complex with a carrier bag in his hand.

In the bizarre snap, the man can be seen wearing extremely tight and short traditional German lederhosen with multi-coloured knee high socks and a pink cap.

Paul, who works in construction and lives in Derby, said the outfit had created a stir in the shopping centre.

He added: "I was walking towards Sports Direct where I saw a man in rather unusual clothing being flanked by two security staff side by side.

"The man seemed very bemused which led me to believe he may have been asked to leave for his attire rather than him doing something wrong.

"I thought it was a little harsh - you see worse than that if you go out on a night out in the city centre.

"We live in a ethnically diverse city that is tolerant of other cultures and sexualities yet this elderly man was ejected because of the way he looked.

"He is known around Derby as being an eccentric guy and he wasn't harming anybody at all. He was just minding his own business.

"These people that complain that too much was on show are the same people who take their kids to Benidorm with topless beaches.

"Yes it was bit bizarre, but I think people should be able to express themselves how they like as long as they are not hurting anybody."

But fellow shopper Neil Bell, 33, added: "It was quite a thing to see after work.

"There were children walking around and this old guy's buttocks were hanging out. It wasn't a pretty sight.

"Maybe up a discotheque but I think at that time of day it was a bit obscene to be displaying so much flesh."

A spokesman for Intu Derby confirmed the man was asked to leave by the centre's security staff because of what "was on display".

She added: "We received a complaint from a young mother who was with her two children and the man was then asked to leave.

"The guest understood and co-operated fully with the request made by the Intu security team.

"Intu Derby has a customer policy in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all of our guests every time they visit us."
