Family shocked to discover two SNAKES hiding in their home – but can you spot them?

Social media users were challenged to 'spot the snakes' hidden in a family's living room and guess their species

VENOMOUS snakes have been photographed lurking in the living room of a family home, but can you spot the shifty serpents?

The image, posted by Australian-based Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, has puzzled social media users trying to pin down the position of the predators.

Commenting on the Facebook post, more than 100 users had a go at guessing where the snakes were hiding in the house.

One wrote: "Three look like carpet snakes while two look like tree snakes? Possibly 6th snake coming under lounge next to white thingy."

"Is there 3? 1 on the table, 1 next to the TV unit and 1 in the ceiling," another baffled punter said.

"Looks like a snake on the floor next to white basket," said another.

"All I can see is a mess!" one woman quipped as many began commenting on the untidy state of the home.

A day later, the group put punters out of their misery and revealed the snakes were hidden within the ceiling rafters.

A closer inspection shows two Brown Tree Snakes laying in the top right corner of the frame.

The venomous reptiles, who have two fangs at the back of their mouths, are blamed for preying on large numbers of native birds in Guam.

But bites in Guam have produced severe symptoms in humans, with patients receiving ventilation or intubation to assist breathing.
