Jennifer Caswell, 31, from Oklahoma, was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2015 after being caught in a hotel room with the lad

THE family of a 15-year-old schoolboy who romped with his teacher have won £97,000 damages from the school where the abuse occurred.

Jennifer Caswell, 31, was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2015 after she was caught in a hotel room with the 15-year-old boy.

Their relationship started with a 15-minute sex session in a classroom and progressed to romps at his house, her home and in her car.

Hollis Public School in Oklahoma agreed to make the payment to settle claims that the school participated in covering up Caswell's abuse, The Oklahoman reported.

Lawyer Charles Watts said: "The truth is that this has a terrible effect on a child. You can expect in his future life that he will have a hard time with relationships."

The boy's dad claimed Principal Marty Webb had accused his son of lying.

He also claimed Webb told him his son "needed to keep his mouth closed" when rumours began to spread about the pair's illicit relationship.

The father said when he refused to let Webb paddle his son as punishment for allegedly spreading rumours, the boy was placed on in-school suspension for a week - a claim the school firmly denies.

Lawyer Andy Fugitt said: "The school district responded to the information it had — which was very limited - in an appropriate way."

Caswell eventually made an appearance on the 'Dr Phil' show where she talked about the relationship.

A lawsuit against her for intentional infliction of emotional distress is still pending.

Lawyer Charles Watts said: "I suspect she will never be a wealthy woman to pay our clients. My clients felt like she really did them wrong."
