FELINE UNWANTED

Heartbroken cat walks 12 miles to find his family… only for them to demand he’s PUT DOWN when he arrives back home

Toby has now found a new forever family

A CAT was so upset at being taken away from his family that he walked 12 miles home to find them - only for the heartless owners to ask vets to put him down.

Toby the ginger tabby was given away by his family, but confused at why they had abandoned him, trekked all the way home to return.

But upon his arrival, the family were far from happy to see him.

Instead of welcoming him back into the fold, they took him to a local shelter and asked the shocked staff if they could euthanize the poor animal.

Luckily for the adorable Toby, the shelter didn't carry out their request, and instead contacted a local animal charity and explained what had happened.

The SPCA animal shelter in North Carolina shared the cat's heartbreaking story on social media.

They wrote: "When Toby's family no longer wanted him, they gave him to another family.

"But Toby missed them, and walked 12 miles back to his home.

"When he arrived, he was met with heartbreak.

"The family he thought had loved him took him to a shelter and asked staff to euthanize him.

"The shelter called us at the SPCA to ask if we could take him in and help him find a new family. "

Toby's story has now been shared thousands of times - and the publicity has meant he has a new home, with cat lover Michele.

The charity say he's settling in well to his new home, and even has two new cat brothers to play with.
