These new dance and gym classes will give you a great workout... and keep you entertained

DON'T panic if the idea of hitting the treadmill for an hour doesn't excite you, there's almost certainly an exercise class out there for you.

From twerking to doing yoga with your dog, these are the weirdest fitness trends set to make a splash in 2017.

Twerking

It's not just a popular dance craze, you can now go to an exercise class designed especially for twerking fans.

Forget zumba, this booty popping class combines fat burning and toning - and is sure to give you the rear of the year.

Doga

It may sound barking mad, but you can now do yoga with man's best friend.

Apparently, bringing your pooch to a stretch class reduces stress in both of you within six classes. But who will be better at downward facing dog?

There's also been a rise of naked classes, Damasdrake (yoga to his hip hop beats), and classes on SUP paddle boards.

Or cool off after your jog with snowga - which is, you guessed it, yoga in the snow.

Running backwards

It uses more energy, but running backwards could be dangerous - because you can't see where you're going

You might get some odd looks, but running backwards uses 30 per cent more energy than moving forward at the same speed.

But it does have its challenges, such as not being able to see where you're going.

Skateboarding pilates

If you feel like a normal pilates class just isn't challenging enough, you may want to dust off your old skate board.

Not only is it an excellent workout, but skateboarding pilates also improves your flexibility and balance.

French celebrity trainer Raphael Doub is making this the new chic trend you have to try.

Crawling

If adult life is getting a bit hard and you fancy acting like a big kid for a while, you may want to try crawling.

The toddler-inspired movement was made mainstream by Original Strength, and it's great for your core strength.

The pose, in which you hover your knees one or two inches off the ground, is already being hailed as the new plank.

Hoopilates

 Hula Hooping isn't just for kids - it's a great work-out too

A combination of Hula Hooping and Pilates - designed to trim your waistline and improve your core strength.

Yoga rave

These guilt-free parties combine rave music and yoga poses in equal measure.

Ditch the drink this Saturday night and have a fun night out which won't leave you hungover.

It's called 'conscious partying', and it does sound pretty fun.

Barefoot training

Ditch your shoes to strengthen your feet, and learn to run faster, jump higher and lift more weight.

Your feet are covered in sensors and when you engage them with the floor you should see more muscle activation, according to those behind the trend.

Try barefoot sprints, push-ups, deadlifts and lunges to exercise without the risk of blisters.
